Yes, files exported from Mataee are fully compatible with Microsoft Excel, as well as Google Sheets and LibreOffice Calc.
Format and encoding
Exports are generated in CSV (Comma-Separated Values) format with the following characteristics:
- UTF-8 encoding with BOM: ensures correct display of accented and special characters (e, e, c, etc.) in all spreadsheet applications.
- Semicolon separator (;): this is the standard expected by French-language versions of Microsoft Excel, allowing direct opening without any configuration step.
- Readable and standardized date format for easy sorting in the spreadsheet.
Opening in Excel
Simply double-click on the downloaded CSV file. Excel automatically recognizes the format and displays the data in separate columns. No import or conversion steps are needed.
Opening in Google Sheets
Import the CSV file from the File > Import menu in Google Sheets. The file is natively supported with automatic separator detection.
Opening in LibreOffice Calc
LibreOffice Calc opens CSV files by displaying an import wizard. Select UTF-8 encoding and the semicolon separator for optimal display.
Why switch from Excel to a dedicated tool?
If you still use a spreadsheet to track your team's time, you know the limitations: data entry errors, broken formulas, shared files that are hard to synchronize. Mataee centralizes your data and lets you export it to Excel whenever you need it. Discover in our article Excel vs. time tracking software why a dedicated tool saves your agency time.
